Operation Sea Lion
Published in Audio Cassette by Books on Tape, Inc. (March, 1987)
Authors: Peter Fleming and Richard Brown
Average review score:

The true story of the Battle of Britain
The true story of the Battle of Britain. This book is a good read. It's about the planning of the Battle of Britain on German side, and the planning of the British defense, on the British side. If the Battle of Britain had succeeded, it would have been the first successful cross-Channel invasion since William the Conqueror in 1066. Hitler's half-hearted attempt at an invasion was bungled from the start. He didn't count on Britain being prepared. He was expecting Britain to be like Poland and the Soviet Union with its planes on the ground like sitting ducks. Churchill had once said that French said that Britain would have her neck wrung like a chicken. Then he quipped "some chicken--some neck."

The definitive story of the Battle Britain read this book!
The definitive history of the Battle of Britain read this book! Operation Sea Lion is about the planned German invasion of Britain. It's also about the British countermeasures. Not many people know that the British removed the street signs from London's streets to confuse the Germans if they'd invaded. It also confused the British drivers. There are some editorial cartoons as well. One has a man on the telephone, he's probably a British Cabinet Minister or Sir Hugh "Stuffy" Dowding, and the caption's "Get me Messerschmitt 109." Operation Sea Lion was supposed to be like Operation Overlord--a cross- Channel invasion. The British were prepared and they defeated Goering's vaunted Luftwaffe.

P. S. I Love You

Written motherly conciousness
This was the first book I bought of H. Jackson Brown. The presentation and size of the book caught my attention and after reading the introduction I was totally into it. Is very easy to read and can be completely read in about an hour. Do not ignore this book for that, this book can uplift your spirit at any time any where. I read it every once in a while to receive the peace and tranquility the book imparts beside the motherly wisdom. I an not a "romantic" but this book apply to everybody's sensible side, no matter how hidden it is.

Just a wonderful book of quotations
This is a wonderful book of quotations taken from letters written by the authors Mom to him and his sibling. It is a wondeful book with sometimes witty, sometimes funny and sometimes very true observations.

Stan! realmente fez um incrível trabalho, descrevendo a cidade pelos olhos de seus cidadões, do mesmo modo que foi escrito The Bestiary, outra surpreendente obra do autor. Pam's Paradise Ranch: A Story of Hawaii
Published in Paperback by Ox Bow Press (October, 1992)
Authors: Armine Von Tempski and Paul Brown
Average review score:

My Childhood Favorite!
I was given this book when I was about eleven by my grandmother, who had read and loved it when she was a young girl! Since then, I have read it many times over, even into my adulthood! I am now a teacher of eleven-year-olds, and was thrilled to find that I could still order Pam's Paradise Ranch for my classroom library! I have spent many hours dreaming of being young Pam, riding my horse across the slopes of Maui. I hope the book generates similar dreams in my students, as they experience Pam' Paradise Ranch for themselves.

This "sweeping saga" for girls has it all.
As a child I was an obsessive reader, preferably books with horses, mysteries and exotic locations. "Pam's Paradise Ranch" stands out as the most exciting, evocative and satisfying novel of all, and I read it many times. The basic story, of a fearful and repressed city girl who moves to Hawaii to live with her aunt and girl cousin, has so much atmosphere and Hawaiian lore, told in everyday events. The girl's discovery of nature and freedom, and of being loved for the first time, are very touching. And, even though I read it in the 60's before feminism was even a word, the strongest characters are the aunt and cousin. Politically correct, even then! A truly great book for all girls ages 7 to 15.

To the point
Comments: I had an opportunity to hear a segment on WHUR last week and then got the tape. I found it entriguing and enlightening. I want to know more about investing. I am ready to take the leap of faith, but I don't want to make any decisions without a better understanding. Thank you in advance for sharing your wisdom.

This is the road map !!!
Comments: I listened to your presentation and I realize I have so many financial "errors" that we MUST pass along to our younger generations the importance of becoming financially saavy. We MUST get them beyond the mindset of giving literally millions of dollars away - aka NIKE, TIMBERLAND, HILFIGER, PERRY ELLIS, NAUTICA, EDDIE BAUER, etc. and not reap ANY benefits of these huge consumer investments. We pump over 400B into the economy - we can turn this around. I know you know - but more of us have got to learn this - and this means ME.

Pictures from the Country: A Guide to Photographing Rural Life and Landscapes
Published in Hardcover by Camden House Pub (September, 1991)
Authors: Richard W. Brown and Thomas H. Rawls
Average review score:

Enjoyable, Educational and Most of All,...Inspirational!
This is a book that I constantly go to for photographic inspiration ever since I purchased it back in 1995. The photos are classic and the words are a pleasure to read for whatever reason you need, be it for pure enjoyment, to learn something or to break from a photographic rut.

A delightful book of photographs that inspire me daily.
A delightful volume of Vermont landscapes that are rural scenes of a vanishing lifestyle. As a photographer myself this volume which I have owned since publication in 1991 is a constant source of inspiration which I return to again and again.

Player's Guide to Greyhawk (Greyhawk Returns)
Published in Paperback by Wizards of the Coast (June, 1998)
Author: Anne Brown
Average review score:

Will Be Appreciated By Veteran And Novice Gamers Alike
The World of Greyhawk, one of TSR's first and most popular AD&D game settings, is revisited in the Player's Guide to Greyhawk, an accessory that will be appreciated by old fans of Greyhawk who wish to return to this exciting milieu and by newer gamers who have yet to experience it.

This accessory includes an introduction to the world of Oerth; an overview of the Flanaess (the continent central to Greyhawk adventures), a section of gods and other political and supernatural powers; information on the city of Greyhawk itself; notes on the various races of the game world; special information on roleplaying in the Flanaess; "Adventuring Attractions in the Central Flanaess" (i.e., the vicinity of Greyhawk City); and several player character kits, three of them for orders of knighthood.

Graphic elements include a double-sided, 11" x 17" cardstock insert that features a full color map of the Flanaess on one side and the domain of the city of Greyhawk on the other. The maps are colorful and attractive, and whereas the Flanaess map is not nearly as impressive as the two posters that used to depict it, it is more wieldy; the Greyhawk domain map is well detailed and will prove a useful tool to anyone running an adventure in the region. Other color graphics include depictions of the symbols of major Greyhawk gods and powers (e.g., the hand and eye of Vecna, and the arrows and iron gauntlet of Hextor).

The Player's Guide to Greyhawk is well organized, fun to look through, and comprehensive enough to be of real value to players and DMs involved in Greyhawk adventures.

--Michael J. Varhola for Skirmisher Online Gaming Magazine

Excellent Summary for all players, and most DMs
The "Player's Guide to Greyhawk" is a well written, concise book about the history, peoples, politics, and other topics regarding the World of Greyhawk, and more specifically, the City of Greyhawk. I wish that it had more material on other places in the WoG, but overall it is a superb book that will give any player insight to the races and history that makes Greyhawk so special compared to other bland forgotten realms.

The Post-Pregnancy Handbook : The Only Book That Tells What the First Year After Childbirth Is Really All About---Physically, Emotionally, Sexually
Published in Paperback by Griffin Trade Paperback (November, 2003)
Authors: Sylvia Brown and Mary Struck
Average review score:

Must Read for Post-Preggies
Have this book handy for the day you come home if not sooner. It is the best book I have read on this under-recognized subject--physical and emotional effects, breastfeeding, effects on the couple. Sylvia Brown understands this subject inside and out and writes about each one thoroughly in a sympathetic and authoritative style. My favorite section was on the emotional aspects, including post-natal depression, the various types, the causes and what to do. A very complete book that I am very fortunate to have found in time. It was a real consolation during my recuperation even though it was my second pregnancy.

Wish I had read this before I had my baby!
This book is an excellent resource for FIRST TIME mothers! I am giving it as a shower gift to my expectant cousin. It is especially helpful if you don't have any close friends or relatives who have had a baby that can tell you first hand what happens to your body, emotions, relationship with spouse and friends after the baby. There is an important chapter that explains what emotions the father goes through and why he isn't always as helpful as you would expect. Buy this book if you are a first time mom or know someone who is expecting.
